The Regional Rail Fleet Program is delivering a first-class rail fleet for passengers travelling in regional NSW, with all the facilities expected of modern rail transport.
CIMIC Group companies Pacific Partnerships, UGL and CPB Contractors, as part of the Momentum Trains consortium, have been selected by Transport for NSW to deliver the $1.26 billion Regional Rail Project as a design, build, finance and maintain contract.
The consortium will deliver a new regional rail fleet and a new maintenance facility in Dubbo, New South Wales.
Scope
The new regional fleet will comprise 117 new carriages to form 29 trains consisting of 10 regional intercity trains, 9 short regional trains and 10 long regional trains.
The consortium will also maintain the trains for 15 years and will be responsible for designing and building at the new fleet maintenance facility in Dubbo, which will be where the final fit out and commissioning of the trains will take place.
The project commenced in early 2019, with the first trains to enter service progressively from 2023.
